What you can expect after the storm:

The shingles on your home are not just for decorative purposes. Your roof works as a system to protect your home, family, and possessions from the elements. Wind, rain, and hail damage should be repaired as soon as possible after a storm to prevent further damage to your home down the road.

Wind

High winds can tear shingles off of your roof, or bend and break shingles, leaving your roof prone to more issues. Not to mention impacting the aesthetics of your home.

When shingles are removed, bent, or broken during a storm wind can push water underneath the remaining shingles causing water damage in your attic.

Roof Hail Damage

Hail

Hail damage on your roof leaves dents in shingles and removes the protective granules that keep your roof protected from damage caused by rain and the sun.

Water

With your roofing system damaged, water as the opportunity to cause more damage to the inside of your home.

Water saturating the substrate of your roof can cause weak spots.

Water in the attic creates extra humidity and mold and can eventually impact your ceiling and walls throughout the house.

FAQ

How bad were these storms? I don’t see any damage.

Hail of at least .75 inches has been reported in your area within the last year.

Hail this size would definitely damage aluminum siding and gutters, although much of this may not be noticeable without close inspection.

Your insurance company is happy to recover your cosmetic loss to maintain your property's value.

How much damage do I need to have a claim?

On a roof, most insurance companies will do a test within a 100-square-foot area and count the number of hail dents.

If they find a certain amount (which varies from company to company), they will replace your roof.

For siding, they will replace each side of aluminum that is damaged and many companies will also pay to match the other sides if your siding material is no longer available (which is true in most cases).

We will inspect your home using the same standards as your insurance company and give you a free report highlighting the extent of your damage.

Will my insurance premium go up? Or worse, will my insurance company drop me?

Check on your policy for a "no-claim discount."

This small discount may be removed if you file a claim.

For natural events such as hailstorms that are beyond your control, it is against state law for your insurance carrier to increase your premiums.

Although an insurance company reserves the right to refuse underwriting to any customer, it is extremely unlikely that your carrier will penalize you for just one claim.

How does the payout work?

When your claim is approved, your insurance company will issue you a payment for the Actual Cash Value of your loss. This is usually between one-third and two-thirds of the total cost of the project. When the project is completed, we bill them for the remainder or depreciation.

I'd rather replace my aluminum with vinyl. Is that OK?

Premium-grade vinyl is the product of choice for new home construction and we are happy to offer these products to you at the same price as your current siding.

Are you local?

Yes. The office of Advanced Construction & Improvement Co. is located in the Quad Cities, which gives us a great advantage over out-of-town competitors.

Is storm damage repair an insurance scam?

No. You are entitled to replacement for damage to your home regardless of age or prior condition.

A storm like the one that affected your area is very rare and has forced most insurance companies to send Catastrophe Action Teams to the area to take care of the overwhelming number of claims.

They are obligated to cover your loss at fair market value.
